Unfortunately, Lawrence Miles has already said the best thing that's ever going to be said about this novelisation in his open letter to Tat Wood responding to the expanded second edition of About Time 3:
Guaranteeing that children get "gorillas" and "guerrillas" mixed up for the rest of their lives
(beasthouse-lm2.blogspot.co.uk/2010/12/about-about-time-time.html).
I strongly suspect to the point of certainty that Uncle Tel specifically chose to describe Ogrons that way to make sure children encountered both side by side. History teachers covering guerrilla warfare at Key Stage 3 up and down the land could eke their red pens out just that little bit longer thanks to Dicks in 1974.
Anyway, this can only really be considered a footnote to that.
